REVENGE

REVENGE is a unique cooperative first-person extraction shooter for which Magic Media is providing various services in collaboration with Everreach Labs. Apart from its distinct cyberpunk-inspired visual direction and tight gunplay, REVENGE boasts a groundbreaking spectator experience where viewers can fulfill the role of Oracles, onlookers who can directly engage in gameplay sessions and affect outcomes. There is plenty more work to complete on the REVENGE project, but we couldn’t be more excited about its progress and the direction it’s heading in.

Challenge

REVENGE has been in the works since early 2022, and Magic Media joined to help its production in March 2024. We were brought on board to provide a full service, and a wide range of our specialist services were leveraged for the project. Some of the services we were brought on board to provide include game design, level design, VFX, DevOps, animation, rigging, and several more. At our largest, the Magic Media team’s composition consisted of 34 team members, though we have scaled our resources as needed for different project tasks.

Solution

The biggest boon of this project is that Everreach Labs has a team composed of industry veterans with experience working on the world’s biggest gaming franchises actively working on REVENGE with the Magic Media team. We’ve come together to form one integrated team to get the project to where it needs to be as quickly as possible but at the highest level of quality possible. In addition to Magic Media’s services, as detailed above, the Everreach team is comprised of experts in game design, economy, infrastructure, audio, narrative, concept art, and much more. Working together as one unified team was the best and most obvious step for us to take for the benefit of the REVENGE project.

As part of our teams’ deep integration, we have a robust schedule for communication and information flow. We take part in the same discussions, meetings, and sprints and participate in weekly meetings and departmental gatherings, in addition to constant communication using a dedicated Slack setup. For all intents and purposes, we operate as one team in every regard, which has seen us see some incredible progress in a relatively short space of time.

In less than 10 months, we’ve managed to cultivate REVENGE from a collection of ideas into something tangible, playable, and exciting. A significant portion of this progress can be attributed to our shared enthusiasm for iteration, speed, and quality, and we wouldn’t have made it this far were it not for our team’s shared enthusiasm for progress.

Results

As REVENGE is still very much an ongoing project, it’s difficult to qualify results at this juncture, but the sheer rapidity of our progress speaks for itself. We have some very exciting activities related to REVENGE lined up in the coming months, and we can’t wait to share more news as it becomes available. We’re closing in on some prominent milestones and we expect progress on REVENGE to continue swimmingly.
