Blankos Block Party is a colorful open-world multiplayer game developed by Mythical Games and published by Third Kind Games. Blankos Block Party is a vivid experience comprised of playful characters in a wide variety of costumes partaking in different activities and exploring. The Magic Media group was delighted to be a part of this unique project.
Challenge
For this project, our client required a trusted partner to come on board to validate Blankos Block Party’s security across various game systems to ensure a safe experience for its players and its backend systems as well.
Solution
Our team conducted gray box penetration testing to check the validity of Blankos Block Party’s security across all aspects. This comprehensive testing included working with Mythical Games to test many areas including:
– Quests
– Mini-games
– Player interactions
– Physics related to player movement and attacks
– Matchmaking
– World creation tools
– In-game transactions
– Party and clan systems
Through testing these different systems and services, we discovered several vulnerabilities, many of which were considered critical by the development team at Mythical Games and subsequently secured after our tests concluded.
Results
Following full sanity and regression testing, our cybersecurity work on Blankos Block Party Concluded. The Mythical team was very pleased with our work, citing our knowledge and flexibility as highlights of our collaboration. Our team was satisfied with our results, and Blankos Block Party went on to be a secure and stable experience for players.
