We have an exciting VFX task to enhance the visual storytelling of a feature film through digital matte painting. The project involves creating and fine-tuning 2D matte paintings for shots requiring set extensions.
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Digital Matte Painting (DMP) Artist to join our team and contribute to this project. As a Senior DMP Artist, you will be instrumental in creating stunning 2D matte paintings that seamlessly blend practical and digital elements, enhancing the film’s visual narrative.
What you will do:
- Collaborate closely with the VFX Supervisor, Art Director, and 3D modeling teams to understand the visual style and requirements for each shot.
- Create intricate and photorealistic 2D matte paintings to extend the practical set and enrich the film’s environment.
- Seamlessly integrate 2D matte paintings with 3D assets, ensuring a cohesive and believable final shot.
- Pay meticulous attention to lighting, perspective, and details to maintain visual continuity within the film.
- Fine-tune and enhance existing matte paintings as needed, based on artistic feedback and project requirements.
- Work closely with compositors to ensure a seamless integration of matte paintings into final shots.
- Meet project milestones and deadlines, delivering high-quality matte paintings that enhance the film’s storytelling.
Your Profile:
- Proven experience as a Senior DMP Artist in the VFX or film industry, with a strong portfolio showcasing your matte painting work.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Photoshop and other relevant 2D painting tools.
- Strong understanding of perspective, lighting, and composition, with an eye for photorealism.
- Ability to seamlessly integrate 2D matte paintings with 3D elements.
- Experience with digital painting techniques, including the use of photo reference and texture mapping.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to artistic feedback.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both in remote and team settings.
